Tyrann Mathieu sits in hot car for public service announcement

PHOENIX, July 17 (UPI) -- While most multimillionaire football players are probably posted up in air conditioned mansions this offseason, an Arizona Cardinals star faced the brutal summer heat for a public service announcement.

Tyrann Mathieu, 23, and PETA partnered for the message about the consequences of leaving a dog inside a hot car.

Mathieu sat in the car, with the windows rolled up, in the 90 degree heat. But the "Honey Badger" couldn't hold out, waving the white flag after eight minutes and an internal vehicle temperature of 120 degrees.

"I seriously couldn't imagine leaving my dog in a car like this," he said in the video. "If you're going to make a dog a part of your family, then make him a part of your family,"Mathieu said. "Don't treat him like you wouldn't treat someone you cared about or someone you loved." Mathieu is shown in the video, wiping pools of sweat from his head and his shirt is soaked when he exits.

In his first two seasons in the NFL, Mathieu has 3 interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and 102 tackles.
