DALLAS, June 17 (UPI) -- A "wide gap" sits between Dez Bryant and the Dallas Cowboys, as the wide receiver recently spoke out saying that $13 million didn't offer "security."

"Everybody voicing opinions..13 mil is cool but Where is my security? I'll wait ...5 years without complaining..So how am I selfish? #family1," Bryant tweeted Wednesday.

Bryant, 26, led the league with 16 touchdowns while hauling in 88 receptions and 1,320 yards last season. In five seasons in Dallas, Bryant has 56 touchdowns, 609 receptions, and 5,424 yards.

"I have no doubt that he'll be leading the way against the Giants," Cowboy sowner Jerry Jones told the Dallas Morning News. "It's a mistake to think there haven't been some type of negotiations recently regarding Dez Bryant and a long-term contract."

"I would like nothing more than to have long-term security with Dez."

Bryant was given the franchise tag this offseason and has until July 15 to sign an extension before being forced to take his current deal.

A week 1 holdout would cost Bryant about $752,941, according to the Cowboys team website.

"(The holdout is) legit," Bryant told Fox Sports. "It's not bogus."
