Jacksonville Jaguars' Leonard Fournette says Seattle Seahawks scuffle was worth $12K fine

Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Rookie running back Leonard Fournette says the punishment he received from the NFL was worth what he did in Week 14 during a scuffle with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Jacksonville Jaguars star was fined more than $12,000 for his role in the altercation. Video from the incident showed plays from both teams getting into it late in the game. The Jaguars were killing the clock late when Seahawks defender Michael Bennett fell under Jaguars center Brandon Linder. Bennett proceed to dive at the back of Linder's legs. The teams then exchanged shoves as referees tossed flags and handed out ejections.

Fournette ran into the scuffle, but was pushed back out by his teammates and Seahawks defenders.

Seahawks defender Quinton Jefferson was ejected on the next play. Jaguars fans tossed objected onto him as he left the field. Jefferson nearly jumped into the stands in pursuit of the mob.

Jefferson and Sheldon Richardson each received $9,115 fines for unnecessary roughness, according to NFL Network. Germain Iced was fined $25,309 for verbal abuse of a referee.

"That's crazy but I mean can't let nobody play with my brothers so it's worth it..." Fournette tweeted Friday night.

While Fournette was not suspended, his Week 15 status is in doubt. The rookie rusher did not practice at all this week due to a quad injury.

The Jaguars host the Houston Texans at 1 p.m. Sunday at EverBank Field.
