The New York Giants officially listed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. as questionable with an ankle injury that could keep him on the sidelines for Sunday night's season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

Beckham, who did not participate in any of the team's practices this week, injured his ankle in the second preseason game on Aug. 21 against the Cleveland Browns. He did some light jogging without a brace this week and said his left ankle was feeling better.

Beckham likely will be a game-time decision as the Giants used a recovery day Friday and will run a short practice Saturday.

"Odell is getting treatment," Giants coach Ben McAdoo told reporters. "We'll see how he responds. He'll do all his work with the training staff (Friday) and we'll see how he responds (Saturday)."

McAdoo said the decision about Beckham's playing status will be made by the medical staff -- not the coach or the player.

If the 24-year-old Beckham sits out against the Cowboys, second-year receiver Roger Lewis is expected to take a majority of his snaps and offseason acquisition Brandon Marshall would likely play a bigger role.
