The Philadelphia Eagles signed Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters to a one-year contract extension Wednesday through the 2019 season.

The extension guarantees $15.5 million of the $32.5 million due to Peters over the next three seasons, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"It means a lot. This is reassurance that I'm going to retire here and don't have to go year to year," Peters told the team's website after signing his deal. "It's just another way of them reassuring that I'm going to be here. I love (owner Jeffrey) Lurie, the whole organization, the City of Philadelphia, and the fans. It speaks volumes for them to still look at me that way, it's nothing but love."

The 35-year-old Peters had two years remaining on his original deal and was scheduled to make a base salary of around $10 million per season with no guaranteed money.

Peters, a nine-time Pro Bowler, has anchored the Eagles' offensive line since 2009 when he was acquired in a trade with the Buffalo Bills.

"Jason is a future Hall of Famer, a great player, and leader," general manager Howie Roseman said. "He has been an anchor for our offensive line for many years and now we are thrilled about being able to work something out that will allow him to finish his career here in Philadelphia."

The 6-foot-4, 328-pound Peters acknowledged his decision to skip voluntary organized team activities earlier was partly based on his current contract.

"I don't want to be year-to-year doubting, are they going to release me? Are they going to do this? Taking pay cuts and all that," Peters told reporters Tuesday at the start of mandatory minicamp. "I just want to make sure that I got the reassurance that I'm going to retire here, don't have to worry about it, show up and show out."
