By Alex Butler

May 2 (UPI) -- Have you ever wanted to watch Hall of Fame Pittsburgh Steelers legend Jerome Bettis do yoga?

Bettis and PGA Tour pro Fred Funk have teamed up with Stryker, creator of the official joint replacement products of the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions, to spread the word about the latest workout trends in key areas of the United States. They will film videos of the workouts at strykerchallenge.com.

In the first workout video, "The Bus" and Funk head to South Beach in Miami Beach, Fla. The duo take on sunrise yoga and spinning.

"It's to promote the fact of getting life or career back," Funk said. "In my case, it was getting a career back with golf. But mainly the everyday person that suffers from joint pain and the arthritis that comes with it. It's a way to show how you can pretty much get your life back. So we are promoting that and doing various activities like yoga on the beach and cycling. We just did some batting cage stuff. We are going to do line dancing and all sorts of fun stuff. It actually is a lot of fun."

Funk, 60, has eight career PGA Tour victories. He has finished in the top 10 of a major five times and won the 2005 Players Championship. Funk had surgery for a torn ligament in his left thumb in 2011. He also has had multiple surgeries to repair his right knee and lingering shoulder trouble throughout his career.

Funk eventually had his knee replaced with a Stryker GetAroundKnee.

Bettis, 45, retired following the 2005 season. He played 13 years for the Los Angeles Rams, St. Louis Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers.

His 10,571 rushing yards for the Steelers rank No. 2 all time behind fellow Hall of Famer Franco Harris.

Bettis had 13,662 career rushing yards and 91 rushing touchdowns. He as an All-Pro twice and went to six Pro Bowls. Bettis won a Super Bowl in 2006 with the Steelers. He was also a beacon of durability through his career, never playing in fewer than 11 games in a season. Better played in at least 15 games in a season 10 times in his career.

Although he did a lot of different exercises to ensure the longevity of his career, he's trying out plenty of new activities on the fitness tour.

"It's a totally different thing for me," Bettis said. "It's promoting living a healthier lifestyle and that's the whole idea around the series to promote the healthier lifestyle and maybe doing some things that you wouldn't normally do."

"It's giving your body a chance to do some things, be active and that's the important part. We want people to see it and maybe they get inspired and want to be active and do more things. The idea is we don't want people to be passengers in their lives, we want them to be drivers. We want them to get out and do things and enjoy life, not watch it go by."

Funk said he previously did a lot of running to keep fit off of the course. He still does a lot of elliptical and cycling exercises. Bettis said he did a little yoga and cycling, on a stationary bike, during his career, but more of those types of exercises could have helped him produce even more.

It probably would have helped during his playing career, Bettis said.

"I did some yoga when I was playing. Not a lot. I did just a touch but had I added that to my workout program, I think that would have definitely helped because the more nimble you are, the faster you are," he said. "It helps in terms of injury so it could be very beneficial. I don't have any regrets because I still think I had a pretty good career."

"We had some interesting moments," Bettis said of the tour. "The yoga was fun on the beach, but it was a lot harder than you may imagine. The spinning class, a lot tougher than you would imagine. Baseball, Fred Funk is a natural, for me it was a lot harder than I thought. I'm gonna assume that line dancing will be right in the midst of things I'm going to struggle with.

"So for me, it has been a lot of unique experiences, but you can see all of those on strykerchallenge.com."
