The Chicago Bears made a trade with the San Francisco 49ers to move up to the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday, and with that selection, they took North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
San Francisco moved down just one spot to the No. 3 overall pick, and also landed the No. 67 and No. 111 pick from the Bears in this year's draft as well as a 2018 third-round pick.
There were reports that Cleveland might take Trubisky with the No. 1 overall selection, but the Browns made the expected move by taking defensive lineman Myles Garrett of Texas A&M.
The Bears signed Mike Glennon earlier in the offseason, and he was expected to be the starter next season. That could change now, though.
Trubisky made an impression on pro scouts despite being a starter for just one season. He completed 68 percent of his passes and has good size (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) and athleticism.
The Bears released Jay Cutler last month.
With the third overall pick, the 49ers selected Stanford defensive tackle Solomon Thomas.
NFLDraftScout.com rated Garrett the top overall prospect in the draft, with Thomas No. 2 and Trubisky No. 11.
