April 24 (UPI) -- Inside linebacker Ryan Shazier will be with the Pittsburgh Steelers through 2018 after the team agreed to pick up his option Monday, according to a team source.

Shazier had 87 tackles, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, three interceptions, and a fumble recovery in 13 games last season. He is due $1.7 million this season and $8.7 million in 2018. The 2016 Pro Bowl selection has become one of the league's most dynamic linebackers since being picked with the No. 15 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
