March 22 (UPI) -- David Johnson was a breakout MVP candidate in 2016 after churning up a league high 2,118 yards from scrimmage and 20 touchdowns.

His skills will be far from a secret next season for NFL defenses. Despite a brutal first impression of his Week 17 knee injury, Johnson escaped with a sprained MCL. He was given 6 to 8 weeks of rehab.

But Johnson looks spectacular since the Jan. 1 injury. The 25-year-old All-Pro has been showing everyone that he is back to his explosive self.

"Explosiveness on 100 #LightWork #Bounce," the Arizona Cardinals playmaker posted Wednesday on social media. The caption was included on a video of the star running back leaping high into the air and onto a set of blocks that were about chest level while he was standing.

Johnson posted a video last week saying he was trying to get his Madden receiving rating up. That video showed him trying to catch a barrage of paper cards as the blew through the wind.

On March 9, Johnson posted a video of himself running on a treadmill. He told the Cardinals website that he is back at "full throttle."

"My wheel is good," Johnson told the team website. "Good to go already. Back training, full throttle. Doing everything."

He told Pro Football Talk last month that his goal was to gain 1,000 receiving yards on the ground and as a receiver.
