March 22 (UPI) -- He became an untouchable member of the New York Giants after winning a Super Bowl and putting up Pro Bowl numbers during a seven-year tenure.

But Victor Cruz's time in New York officially ended in heartbreak on the eve of Valentine's Day. It doesn't appear the Giants want to get back together.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reported Wednesday that it was unlikely for the Giants to bring Cruz back. The 30-year-old had just 586 yards and one touchdown on 39 receptions in 2016. His best year came in 2011, when he had 1,536 yards and nine scores on 82 catches.

There is also the fact the the Giants now have a stacked core of wide receivers, including: Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall, and Sterling Shepard.

Cruz met with the Carolina Panthers last month, telling Art Stapleton that the visit "went well." He hasn't generated much interest since. His departure from the Giants freed up $7 million in salary cap space.
