March 8 (UPI) -- Despite being franchise tagged for the 2017 NFL season, Kirk Cousins isn't exactly committed to the Washington Redskins, according to reports. NFL.com's Mike Silver reported Wednesday that the 2016 Pro Bowl selection "wants no part of Washington right now and would like to be in San Francisco."

Trade speculation hasn't slowed since Cousins was given the exclusive franchise tag on Feb. 28. Redskins president Bruce Allen said the team applied that tag to end trade speculation in an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
Cousins was also part of a rumored three-team deal, which reportedly would land Tony Romo in Washington and Cousins in San Francisco. But that deal, originally reported by Ian Rapoport, has since been disputed by multiple outlets.
Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers' new coach, was of course Cousins' former offensive coordinator with the Redskins.
Cousins, 28, will make about $24 million next season. The Redskins and the quarterback previously discussed a long-term deal for $20 million annually, according to reports.
The 49ers could still use the No. 2 pick in next month's 2017 NFL Draft to acquire Cousins from the Redskins, despite signing Brian Hoyer Wednesday. Shanahan views Hoyer as a "backup type" quarterback, according to NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala.
"Someone very close to Kyle Shanahan tells me: No way Brian Hoyer signing precludes move for frontline QB. Kirk Cousins chatter not dead yet," Kinkhabwala tweeted Wednesday night.
