March 8 (UPI) -- The Indianapolis Colts announced on Tuesday that they agreed to terms with tight end Jack Doyle, who would have become a free agent. The team did not announce terms of the deal, but Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported Doyle agreed to a three-year, $19 million deal with another $2 million available in incentives.

Doyle went undrafted in 2013 and signed with the Tennessee Titans. The Titans waived him and he was picked up by the Colts in September 2013.
He had just 35 receptions in his first three NFL seasons, when he was used primarily as a blocking tight end behind starter Coby Fleener. But Doyle had a breakthrough season in 2016, when he caught 59 passes for 584 yards and five touchdowns.
The Colts have two other tight ends -- Dwayne Allen and Erik Swoope.
"Jack is a consummate professional who is highly revered among all in this organization," said Colts general manager Chris Ballard said in a statement from the Colts. "He possesses a tremendous amount of talent and you can witness how much he loves playing the game when you watch him compete. Jack has emerged as a leader in his four seasons with this team and we're thrilled he'll be returning. We also want to thank his agents Buddy Baker and Matthew Pope for their efforts throughout this process."
