Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Free agent Earl Mitchell was cut last week and is now a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

The 29-year-old defensive tackle signed a four-year, $16 million pact Friday evening, according to NFL.com. Mitchell has missed 11 games in the last two seasons because of nagging injuries.

Mitchell also had visits planned with the Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons, and Seattle Seahawks. The Dolphins saved $4 million against the salary cap by cutting Mitchell on Feb. 16. He has two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, 5.5 sacks, and 128 tackles in 100 games during his seven-year career with the Houston Texans and Dolphins.
