Feb. 24 (UPI) -- An already crowded backfield added another body Friday.

The Kansas City Chiefs have signed veteran running back C.J. Spiller. The free agent had 18 yards on just six carries last season for the New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks. Spiller, 29, made the Pro Bowl in 2012 after accumulating 1,703 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns. He hasn't eclipsed 950 rushing yards in a season since.

The Jets waived the former Clemson playmaker in December.

Spiller was the No. 9 pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 2010 NFL Draft. He played for the New Orleans Saints in 2015. The Chiefs already have Spencer Ware, Jamaal Charles, and Charcandrick West on its roster.
