The San Francisco 49ers named DeMeco Ryans as their defensive quality control coach on Tuesday.

Ryans, a longtime NFL linebacker, last played with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015. The 32-year-old Ryans was a second-round pick with Houston and was on that team with now-49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, who spent four years on the Texans' offensive staff.

Ryans also was with Houston during defensive coordinator Robert Saleh's two years as the Texans' assistant linebackers coach.

Former Detroit Lions safety Daniel Bullocks, 33, has been hired as the assistant defensive backs coach and Vince Oghobaase, 30, will serve as the assistant defensive line coach.

Offensive line coach John Benton, assistant special teams coach Stan Kwan, assistant offensive line coach Adam Stenavich and strength and conditioning assistant Michael Clay were also hired on Tuesday.
