Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Another disappointing finish to a New York Giants season has led to speculation that Eli Manning's days are numbered.

Giants general manager Jerry Reese said last month in his season-ending press conference that Manning is "probably on the back nine of his career." Newsday's Bob Glauber said he thinks Manning has two or three good years left in the league.

"My sense is that they feel he has two to three more years left of quality football," Glauber told PFT Live Monday. "But they obviously see some signs that were a little bit disconcerting this season. Signs of slippage. They think he can still be a viable quarterback, I think for two or three more years."

Manning, 36, completed 377-of-598 passes for 4,027 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions in 2016. He completed 387-of-618 passes for 4,436 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in 2015.

"Of course," Reese said in his press conference. "Everybody has a job. Eli has a job to do and everyone around him has a job to do. 36, I don't think that is ancient for a quarterback. I think he is probably on the back nine, but I don't think that is ancient for a quarterback, and he is taking care of himself really well, and I thought he finished the season strong. I thought he was in a really good rhythm last night. We were protecting, running the ball a little bit, he was hitting guys, and we just had some untimely drops right there that hurt him."

The four-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time Super Bowl champion made the Pro Bowl in 2015 and is in the third year of a five-year, $101.5 million contract. He is booked for $13 million in 2017. Reese said the franchise is starting to look for its next gunslinger.

"We always think about every position," Reese said in a press conference. "But Eli is 36, and we have started to think about who is the next quarterback, and who is in line, so we will look into that as we move into the offseason."

Manning's current pact includes a no-trade clause and pays him a $5 million roster bonus in 2018 and 2019.
