Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Longtime fullback Mike Tolbert is no longer a member of the Carolina Panthers.

The two-time All-Pro was released Tuesday after five seasons with the team. Tolbert began his career in 2008 with the San Diego Chiefs. He earned Pro Bowl nods in 2013, 2015, and 2016. In 2010, Tolbert ran for 735 yards and 11 scores for the Chargers. In five seasons for the Panthers, he has 1,763 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns.

Tolbert, 31, was due $1.5 million in 2017.

"I feel very fortunate to have coached Mike for nearly his entire career," Panthers coach Ron Rivera told Panthers.com. "He was someone we targeted in 2012 because we felt he would be a good addition to our offense and he was very productive for us. He brought great energy and leadership to our locker room and I wish him the best."

Darrel Young and Devon Johnson are the two fullbacks currently remaining on the Panthers' roster.
