Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has a huge cap number for next season. That's why many teams vying for the 36-year-old are waiting to see if the Cowboys dump him in free agency. Count the Buffalo Bills as a team showing a "significant interest" in the veteran, according to CBS' Jason La Canfora.

La Canfora reported Thursday that "team and league sources" told him about the Bills' interest. He added that the franchise has "not given up hope" on bringing back Tyrod Taylor on a cheaper contract. Romo prefers to move to a contending team, including: the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, or Kansas City Chiefs, according to the report. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that the Texans are "not a landing spot" for Romo.
"We need better performance out of the position...we'll probably look at a young qb as we go into draft," Texans owner Bob McNair told NFL Network's Alex Flanagan.
Mike Klis of 9 News Denver reported last week that the Broncos are only interested in Romo as a free agent. Romo is due $14 million in 2017 and $19.5 million in 2018. He completed 3-of-4 attempts for 29 yards and a touchdown last season. In his last full season, the four-time Pro Bowl selection led the NFL with a 69.9 completion percentage, while passing for 3,705 yards, 34 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
