FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- With Jeff Fisher now sitting at home, the Los Angeles Rams are on the lookout for a new head coach.

According to Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman, the Rams "want" and are "focusing on" New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

"The Rams want Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels [get in line, Rams]," Freeman wrote. "But, I'm told, McDaniels is in no hurry to become a head coach again. So keep that in mind as you hear his name repeatedly after the season. He is a patient guy and will wait for the perfect opportunity."

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio wrote Thursday that the Rams "will lean toward a coaching with an offensive background..."

Florio reported last month that he was told "the think continues to be that Josh McDaniels will stay in New England until coach Bill Belichick retires."

When asked this week about the Rams' vacancy, McDaniels told reporters: "My focus and my attention is gonna stay right here in the building," according to Phil Perry of CSN New England.

McDaniels, 40, began his NFL career in 2001 as a personal assistant/coaching assistant for the Patriots. In 2009, he became the head coach of the Denver Broncos. In 2011, he served as the offensive coordinator for the then St. Louis Rams, before returning to be offensive coordinator for the Patriots in 2012. McDaniels owns an 11-17 record as a head coach.
