EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- By no means is Odell Beckham Jr. suffering for cash, but a $12,000 hit to your wallet means more when you are playing on your rookie contract.
The New York Giants stud wide receiver was fined $12,154 this week for "verbal abuse/excessive profanity towards a game official" during last Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to USA TODAY.
Beckham also criticized the officials after the game, saying that a blind man could have made better calls than Terry McAulay and his crew.
"Like I said, everybody knows what's going on, on the field. Everybody can see it. Even Stevie Wonder can see it," Beckham told reporters. "It just, it is what it is. You can't do anything about it. There's no point. I don't know why, I shouldn't have even brought it up. It's always a lose-lose situation, bringing something up. Either you're speaking out on it, and now you're trying to defend yourself, or the other way around, and you're complaining. Either way it goes, I should have never brought it up. It's really irrelevant."
This is the fourth time Beckham has been fined this season.
Beckham has 1,015 yards and eight touchdowns on 75 receptions this season. He had 16 targets in Week 13, turning them into 10 receptions for 100 yards. The Giants host the Dallas Cowboys at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday Night Football at MetLife Stadium.
