The Indianapolis Colts promoted linebacker Luke Rhodes from the practice squad on Wednesday to take the roster spot of suspended linebacker D'Qwell Jackson. Jackson was suspended Tuesday for the final four regular-season games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. Jackson will be eligible to return on Jan. 2, the day after the regular season ends.

The 6-foot-2, 242-pound Rhodes, 24, spent most of the season on the Colts' practice squad since signing with the team on Oct. 5. He participated in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 2016 offseason program and training camp before being waived during final cuts on Sept. 3. Rhodes originally signed with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent on May 2.
Collegiately, Rhodes started 45 of 47 games at William & Mary and finished with 341 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 19 passes defensed, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception.
The Colts also signed safety Stefan McClure to their practice squad.
The 5-11, 205-pound McClure, 23, participated in the Colts' offseason program and training camp before being waived on Sept. 3. He originally signed with Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent on May 2 after playing collegiately for the California Golden Bears.
McClure appeared in 37 games (28 starts) at Cal and totaled 165 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, 12 passes defensed and three fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown).
