EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, who missed last week's game with an ankle injury, is active for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. With Cruz active, receiver Tavarres King is inactive.
On the offensive line for the Giants, both left guard Justin Pugh (knee) and his backup Brett Jones (calf) are inactive this week. Jones was injured in the Giants' first series Monday night and was not able to practice this week.
Marshall Newhouse, who stepped in for Jones after he left, will get the start at left guard. When Newhouse swings outside to the jumbo tight end, Adam Gettis, who was listed as questionable on the Giants' injury report this week, will step in at left guard for Newhouse.
Also active for the Giants is reserve guard/center Shane McDermott, who was signed off the Giants' practice squad Saturday as insurance.
Reserve tackle Will Beatty, who has been inactive the last two weeks, is active and will serve as the emergency offensive lineman.
The rest of the inactive Giants include quarterback Josh Johnson, cornerback Leon Hall, defensive tackle Robert Thomas, and former starting tight end Larry Donnell.
The Bears will have a new look on the right side of their offensive line. Right guard Kyle Long was placed on injured reserve earlier in the week, and he will be replaced by Eric Kush. Also, right tackle Bobby Massie (concussion) was one of three Bears who did not make the trip to East Rutherford. He will be replaced by Mike Adams.
The other Bears players who didn't make the trip and who are inactive include defensive lineman Mitch Unrein (back) and defensive back Deiondre' Hall (ankle).
The remainder of the Bears' inactive list are defensive back DeAndre Houston-Carson, linebacker John Timu, tight end Daniel Brown and nose tackle Eddie Goldman.
Newly signed defensive lineman Jimmy Staten, who had a brief stint with the Giants' practice squad last year, is active and ready for a reserve role given the injury to Unrein. Staten was signed Saturday after the Bears waived defensive back De'Vante Bausby to create a roster spot.
