DENVER, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Although he initially denied a report Thursday that he was out for the season, C.J. Anderson is headed to injured reserve.

Anderson suffered a right meniscus tear Monday in the Denver Broncos' win against the Houston Texans. He missed practice this week and was originally expected to miss "at least a few weeks," according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The running back spent Wednesday seeking alternate opinions on the banged up knee.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that Anderson did not tear his ACL, while NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Anderson told "people close to him" that he is out for the season.

Anderson responded to Rapoport's tweet Thursday, simply by writing "false." He then went on a tweeting spree about the "false" reports and "allegations." Anderson has since deleted the tweets.

NBC Denver reported that Anderson's injury is "significant" but that the team "hopes" he can return for the playoffs.

For fantasy football's sake, look for Devontae Booker to take hold of the workhorse role as the Broncos' running back. He is an immediate RB1. Kapri Bibbs is also worth a pickup as Booker's handcuff.

"Tweets are deleted I will stay off social can't let ppl get to me," Anderson tweeted.

Anderson was set for an arthroscopic procedure Thursday, according to Rapoport.
