Fantasy Football: Sammy Watkins OUT Week 4, "major concern" long term

By Alex Butler

BUFFALO, N.Y., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- There won't be much of a waiting game this week for fantasy football team owners and Sammy Watkins.

The Buffalo Bills ruled the wide receiver out Friday for Week 4 against the New England Patriots. This makes two straight weeks of inactive designations for Watkins, who has six receptions for 63 yards on the season.

On Thursday, Rex Ryan said he was "hopeful" Watkins traveled to Foxborough with the team, according to ESPN's Mike Rodak. Watkins has not practiced all week. Ryan told reporters Friday there is "major concern" about Watkins' foot issues being long-term.

Robert Woods is expected to fill in for Watkins. I see Woods as a WR3 with WR2 upside as Tyrod Taylor's top target against a Patriots secondary playing at home. Watkins' immediate future is very murky this season, but this could be a move in the right direction, giving Watkins time to recover from foot surgery.
