SEATTLE, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- With an ailing Thomas Rawls set to miss multiple weeks, the Seattle Seahawks were in the market for a running back.

On Wednesday, the team signed C.J. Spiller to a one-year deal. Spiller previously visited the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers after being released earlier this month by the New Orleans Saints. He signed a four-year, $16 million contract with the Saints in March of last year.

Spiller looks to be in the mix to play immediately. He is likely to enter into a passing-game role with Rawls out with a fibula injury and rookie C.J. Prosise out with a hand injury.

Spiller, 29, has 3,433 rushing yards and 12 career rushing touchdowns. He also has 1,434 career receiving yards and eight receiving scores. Spiller was a Pro Bowl selection in 2012, when he rushed for 1,244 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

Spiller is worth picking up in deep PPR format leagues. He won't get a consistent enough workload to be considered for a standard league roster.
