NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- New Orleans Saints wide receiver Willie Snead is breaking out in 2016.

But after two stellar games, the emerging star could be bench-bound due to a toe injury. Snead, 23, missed most of practice this week. Through two games he has 14 catches for 226 yards and two touchdowns. Last season, Snead netted 984 yards and three scores on 69 grabs in 15 contests.

Snead said that he is "very hopeful" that he plays against the Atlanta Falcons in the Monday Night Football match up, according to ESPN's Mike Triplett.

He is a strong WR2 when he is on the field, but you might want to have a backup plan ready before the Sunday slate of games in case new information emerges. The Saints practiced Saturday. Snead played 83 percent of the Saints' Week 2 offensive snaps.

The Falcons allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game and touchdowns to wide receivers last season. Through two games this season, the Falcons have allowed the third-most touchdowns to the position.

Snead showed a lot of optimism earlier this week when he tweeted about his excitement for the game. He said Saturday that he is questionable, according to Nick Underhill of the Advocate. I expect Snead to suit up, but it doesn't hurt to monitor the situation ahead of the NFC South bout.
