CLEVELAND, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- How quickly can things change?

Wednesday, football fans were wondering if Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon had hit another roadblock in his journey back to football. News broke that there was a warrant out for his arrest, while he was already benched for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Now it appears that Gordon is back on track for his Week 5 debut. ESPN reported Thursday that Gordon's warrant was rescinded after he complied for a court order to have his DNA tested. The warrant was originally issued on Aug. 31 after Gordon did not respond to subpoenas asking that he take a paternity test.

"Mr. Gordon immediately made himself available to the Court when he was informed that his presence had been previously required," attorneys Kevin Spellacy and Walter Edwards wrote in a statement from the Browns. "He attended court [Wednesday] and a hearing was held."

On Wednesday, an NFL spokesman said that the warrant had no effect on Gordon's status. Christina Lockhart claims that Gordon is the father of her 1-year-old daughter. Lockhart is looking for child support from Gordon.

Gordon, 25, is expected to suit up for the Browns' Oct. 9 game against the New England Patriots. With news breaking Thursday about wide receiver Corey Coleman's month-long absence, look for Gordon to come back as a WR2, with WR1 potential depending on quarterback play.
