The Buffalo Bills fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman on Friday and replaced him with assistant head coach/running backs coach Anthony Lynn.

Buffalo put a good number of points on the scoreboard in Thursday night's 37-31 loss to the New York Jets but is off to a 0-2 start in a season in which an uphill climb was expected.

The Bills totaled 393 offensive yards against the Jets but 155 of them came on two plays. Buffalo also totaled just 160 yards in the season-opening 13-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Roman took the blame for the poor offensive showing against the Ravens and said he needed to improve his play-calling.

Roman spent four seasons (2011-14) as offensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers before being lured away by head coach Rex Ryan and the Bills.

Buffalo had the NFL's top-ranked rushing offense in 2015 but the passing attack was 20th. The Bills ranked 13th in total offense.

Lynn, 47, is also in his second season with the Bills. He spent six seasons as running backs coach of the Jets when Ryan was the head coach.
