DETROIT, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- While former Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson said he's not coming back to the NFL, he will still be dancing this offseason.

Sadly, it won't be in the end zone. Johnson did that 83 times during his nine-year career in the NFL.

ABC announced the cast of the upcoming season of "Dancing with the Stars" Tuesday. The cast includes the former NFL All-Pro.

Team USA gymnast Laurie Hernandez and swimmer Ryan Lochte, Vanilla Ice, former Texas governor Rick Perry, and Maureen McCormick will join Johnson in the cast.

Emmitt Smith, Von Miller, Antonio Brown, Hines Ward, and other NFL players have previously appeared on the show.

Season 23 premieres at 8 p.m. eastern, Monday, Sept. 12.

Johnson, 30, told the Detroit Free Press in June that he knew the 2015 season would be his last season before the season started.

"In my mind, I don't see that happening," Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford told DetroitLions.com in May. "He retired because he wanted to. That's it."
