SEATTLE, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Beast Mode is no more in Seattle, but Thomas Rawls showed fans they have somebody to rally around in 2016.

Rawls had offseason ankle surgery after getting injured in week 14 last season against the Baltimore Ravens. The 23-year-old Central Michigan product was ruled out of the Seahawks' preseason matchup Thursday.

But coach Pete Carroll says Rawls "will play" in the team's Sept. 11 season opener against the Miami Dolphins.

"RB Thomas Rawls will NOT play in tomorrow's game but Carroll said he has "no hesitation saying he will play in season opener," 710 ESPN's Liz Mathews tweeted Wednesday.

Rawls averaged 5.6 yards per carry in 13 games last season. He had 147 attempts for 830 yards and four rushing scores.
