Josh Norman is "redskin playing for the Redskins"

RICHMOND, Va., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- One All-Pro season after three 'good' seasons made Josh Norman a household name and $75 million from the Washington Redskins.

That deal contained $36.5 million fully guaranteed, a $15 million signing bonus, and one of the most boastful mouths in the NFL.

In a recent interview with ESPN the Magazine, Norman was talking big again. This time his topic was the team's controversial name.

"Redskins is not offensive to me," Norman told ESPN's Kevin Van Valkenburg, via the Washington Post. "I'm part Native American on both my mom's and my dad's side. It's kind of a funny thing, though. A redskin playing for the Redskins."

ESPN First Take co-host Max Kellerman said earlier this month that he believes team owner Daniel Snyder would eventually change the name of his beloved franchise.

"Yes, it will change and Dan Snyder will change it," Kellerman said, via WTOP.com. "And I'm looking forward to that day, because I'm very disappointed in him right now."

Snyder has never appeared willing to change the name of the team, despite a court ruling that the name is offensive to Native Americans.

The ESPN the Magazine issue hits newsstands Friday and has Norman on the cover, with the words: "Revenge of the Defense." And Norman doesn't just dish on the name of Snyder's franchise. He also calls NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell "horrible" and the league's society "soft."

He called his unceremonious move from the Carolina Panthers to the Redskins "like going from a dictatorship to freedom."

The 28-year-old Norman is set to be a commentator for Fox Sports this season. He makes his on-air debut for Fox on Sept. 11.

Norman has his work cut out for him early on in 2016. In his first three games, he faces Antonio Brown, Dez Bryant, and Odell Beckham Jr.
