Robert Griffin III and the rest of the quarterbacks on the Cleveland Browns' roster will know where they stand on the depth chart before the preseason opener.

Head coach Hue Jackson wants to let Griffin, Josh McCown and the rest of the roster know who'll start early in the preseason to afford the opportunity for chemistry among first-team players and established a leadership pecking order.

"It's going to show itself really quickly," Jackson said Thursday. "And it would definitely be before our first preseason game."

Griffin is the presumed starter and reportedly will take the majority of snaps with the first-team offense in training camp.

McCown, rookie Cody Kessler and holdover Austin Davis are also battling for spots.

Training camp is an opportunity for wide receiver Josh Gordon to hit the "reset button," Jackson said, accompanied at a press conference by team vice president Sashi Brown.

Gordon is suspended the first four games of the 2016 season but could return in Week 5 against the New England Patriots. He is currently limited by a quadriceps injury.

"I truly believe he wants to make it right," Jackson said. "I think if a player wants to change, you have to create an environment for him to change. ... It's about him. He has to do this."
