ATLANTA, June 27 (UPI) -- Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow is on a mission this offseason.

While it might not ever lead to another starting quarterback gig, he is making the best out of his life outside of the game.

Tebow visited a man injured in the Orlando nightclub shooting last week. This week he needed to lend a broad shoulder to a family in need.

According to several Delta passengers, a man on Tebow's recent flight became unconscious due to heart issues.

While many on the plane looked to help the passenger in need, Tebow was easily the most recognizable when he walked back from his first class seat to help.

That recognition only enhanced when the passengers noticed Tebow praying with the man's wife and lending her a shoulder to cry on.

According to one passenger named Richard V. Gotti, the flight was from Atlanta to Phoenix. The man regained consciousness when the flight landed. Tebow took the man's wife to the hospital, according to KGET.

"I have to share this story! I was traveling on Delta Airlines Flight Number 1772 from Atlanta, Georgia to Phoenix, Arizona when there was a medical emergency on board. An older gentleman began having what appeared to be heart problems, and he went unconscious," Gotti wrote on his post on Delta's Facebook page, which now has 31,000 shares. "I watched strangers from all over the world and every ethnicity come to the help of this man for over an hour! Whether it was chest compressions, starting an IV, helping breathe life into this man, or praying everyone helped! I listened to shock after shock from the AED machine and still no pulse. No one gave up. I observed people praying and lifting this man up to the Lord in a way that I've never seen before. The crew of Delta Airlines were amazing. They acted in a fast and professional manner!"

"Then all of a sudden, I observed a guy walking down the aisle. That guy was Tim Tebow. He met with the family as they cried on his shoulder! I watched Tim pray with the entire section of the plane for this man," Gotti wrote. "He made a stand for God in a difficult situation. The plane landed in Phoenix and that was the first time they got a pulse back! Please share this with your friends! Pray for this man and his family, and also thank God that we still have people of faith who in times of difficulty look to the Lord!"

More than 66,000 people liked Gotti's post.

"Thanks for sharing this with us, Richard," Delta wrote in response to Gotti. "We can't say enough about the Delta pros who care for our customers every day, and we are grateful to our customers who are so often quick to extend kindness and care to one another."

Delta spokesman Brian Kruse said that a medical emergency occurred on board, but couldn't release names of the passengers.

"We can't say enough about the Delta professionals who care for our customers every day and we are grateful to our customers who are so often quick to extend kindness and care to one another," Kruse told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Tebow is currently an analyst for the SEC Network. He is serving as a co-host on Fox's reality show Home Free at 9 p.m. on Thursdays.

The Philadelphia Eagles released Tebow, 28, in September. He failed to make it past the preseason in Philadelphia. His last snap came with the New York Jets in 2012, when he completed 6-of-8 passes for 39 yards in 12 games.
