DALLAS, June 27 (UPI) -- Football legend Herschel Walker's friendship with Donald Trump is starting to literally cost him.

Walker, who has been vocal in his support for his friend, told TMZ that he has had numerous engagements pulled "because organizers were afraid Walker would attract anti-Trump protesters."

According to Playing Field Promotions, Walker's booking fee ranges from $20,000 to $30,000.

Still, Walker has not backed down from supporting Trump.

"I've had a lot of people cancel speaking engagements with me because of my relationship with Donald," Walker told TMZ.

"I've known 'The Donald' before he became 'The Donald.' Donald is not a racist. I hate to tell people. Just because you build a wall, doesn't mean you are a racist."

"Donald once told me, Herschel, any publicity is good publicity. I said its good for you but not for me."

Walker, 54, appeared on Trump's Celebrity Apprentice in 2009 on NBC. But Walker knew Trump personally long before his television fame.

He also played on Trump's New Jersey Generals team in the short lived United States Football League. Walker then played for the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Minnesota Vikings, for a dozen years in the NFL.

Last year, Walker told USA Today that there was "not a doubt" in his mind that Trump is the "frontrunner."

Walker totaled 8,225 yards and 61 touchdowns on 1,954 career carries. He retired at 35-years-old. He made a name for himself and Georgia, winning the 1982 Heisman Trophy.

According to The Richest, Walker has a net worth of $12 million.
