Baylor prospect Shawn Oakman under investigation for rape

By Alex Butler

CHICAGO, April 7 (UPI) -- The man who many laughed at as the subject of a meme that shot to the top of the viral charts, is now the subject of a much more serious matter.

Former Baylor defensive end Shawn Oakman is the "latest BU player under investigation for Sexual Assault," according to Alex Dunlap, of Orangebloods.com.

The alleged assault occurred between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. April 3, according to a search warrant affidavit released by the Waco Police Department. According to the report, Oakman met with the victim at a club called Scruffy Murphy's. The duo then traveled to Oakman's residence.

"Once inside suspected premise, the suspect forced victim into suspect bedroom," the report says. "Affiant (Waco detective Sam Key) learned the suspected forcibly removed the victim's clothing. The suspect forced victim onto the bed and proceeded to sexually assault her."

The victim was treated and examined at Providence Medical Center.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reported that: "Shawn Oakman spoke briefly with police and 'he admitted to only having consensual sex with Victim.'"

The Waco Tribune-Herald originally broke the story but was "not naming the athlete because he has not been arrested."

Oakman is listed at 6-foot, 9-inches and 275 pounds. He tallied 4.5 sacks last season after notching 11 in 2014. Oakman totaled 128 tackles and 17.5 sacks in three seasons at Baylor.

Last December an NFL scout said he "wouldn't take him in the first three rounds, but I'm not convinced that he can't become an NFL player."
