FOXBOROUGH, Mass., March 16 (UPI) -- Rob Gronkowski will have a new sidekick next season in Foxborough.
The New England Patriots traded a fourth-round pick for former Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett Wednesday. The Patriots also netted a sixth-round pick in the deal, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
The six-foot, seven-inch Bennett gives the Patriots an even more intimidating red zone offense when he lines up to take snaps alongside the six-foot, six-inch Gronkowski.
The Dallas Cowboys selected Bennett, 29, in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Bennett had 53 receptions for 439 yards and three scores last season for the Bears. He has 348 receptions for 3,586 yards and 23 touchdowns in eight seasons.
