The New York Jets lost running back Chris Ivory to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Jets reacted to that loss, as they are expected to sign free-agent running back Matt Forte, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday.

Forte has played eight NFL seasons for the Chicago Bears and is 30 years old. But he did not show signs of a decline in 2015 and provides a dual-threat weapon in the backfield.

Despite missing three games with a sprained knee in 2015, Forte piled up 898 yards rushing and caught 44 passes for 389 yards.

A Pro Bowl selection in both 2011 and 2013, Forte's best season in terms of rushing was 2012, when he ran for 1,339 yards and a 4.6-yard average per carry. His best season as far as pass-catching was 2014 when he had 102 receptions for 898 yards.

Forte was also was drawing interest from the Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins.
