NEW YORK, May 22 (UPI) -- New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson has had enough of fans heckling him on Twitter, regarding his absence from workouts.

Richardson missed Wednesday's voluntary workout and coach Todd Bowles said the 24-year-old has attended only half of the Jets' workouts.

Richardson's teammate Muhammad Wilkerson has also skipped all of the Jets' workouts seeking a new long-term contract.

On Friday, Richardson responded to fans with a series of tweets saying: "All I'm hearing from ppl is get to OTA's etc. like I jus wasn't at practice yesterday putting in wrk tho" and "I have a life outside of football n I chose to enjoy my family a little longer so to u fans that know everything please worry bout yourself."

Richardson also posted a photo to his Instagram account Thursday, appearing to be with his brother and family.

"You hope everybody comes all the time [to voluntary workouts], but unfortunately, that's not the case," Bowles told NJ.com. "And guys have things they do in the offseason that they probably have scheduled, that they can't afford to miss. So I understand that part as well."

Richardson signed a four-year, $10.054 million contract in 2013 and is due $1.319 million next season and $1.776 million in 2016. Wilkerson signed a four-year, $6.87 million contract in 2011 and is due $6.969 million next season before becoming a free agent in 2016.

The Jets also drafted stud defensive lineman Leonard Williams out of USC with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
