SAN DIEGO, April 20 (UPI) -- After saying last month that he plans to play out the final year of his contract before signing a new one, Philip Rivers quickly became the subject of trade rumors.

But San Diego Chargers wide receiver Stevie Johnson said he plans to catch passes from the quarterback Tuesday at the team's workout Monday, which the both attended.

Rivers, 33, is in the final year of a seven-year, $98.25 million deal. The 11-year veteran is due to make $15.75 million.

Rivers led the Chargers (9-7) with 31 passing touchdowns, a career-high 18 interceptions, and 4,286 yards last season. Rivers was rumored to be traded to the Tennessee Titans for the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL draft, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio. That pick could mean the Chargers drafting Marcus Mariota.

"The Chargers told me, 'We're not trading him," former NFL general manager Charley Casserly told the Tennessean. "They told me they'd have him under contract (for 2015) and then we're franchising him and that's it. I haven't followed up, but that's what I was told last month."
