BOSTON, March 31 (UPI) -- Patriots owner Robert Kraft testified at the murder trial of Aaron Hernandez Tuesday, saying the former player told him he was innocent.

Kraft told the court Hernandez told him he was in a club at the time Odin Lloyd was killed and was completely innocent in the crime.

Kraft said he approached Hernandez at Gillette Stadium and talked to him about the incident in 2013. He said he spoke with Hernandez for 10 minutes and he said he had no role in the murder of the boyfriend of his fiancée's sister.

"Any player involved in our system ... I consider family," Kraft said. "I wanted to get him help."
