By Alex Butler

NEW YORK, March 3 (UPI) -- Potential No. 1 NFL draft pick Jameis Winston is already looking for more dollars than his signing bonus will carry. Winston filed to trademark his infamous "Famous Jameis" nickname Feb. 5, according to ESPN's Darren Rovell.

"We have begun taking steps to protect our client and his intellectual property rights," Russ Spielman, a partner of The Legacy Agency, told ESPN. Right now, his sole focus is on football. We hope to utilize this way down the line."

In October 2013, a Birmingham resident, Dr. Mukul Mehra applied to trademark the phrase "Famous Jameis."

"It's not necessarily geared toward him," Mehra told Bloomberg Business. "I don't know what our intent completely is. We haven't worked all of that out."

Winston completed 66 percent of his 851 pass attempts in college for 7,964 yards, 65 touchdowns and 28 interceptions.

According to multiple draft experts, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to draft Winston No. 1 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 30 in Chicago.
