DENVER, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- The "Sheriff" appears ready for a comeback in 2015, according to ESPN. Peyton Manning met with the Denver Broncos' top team brass Thursday. Friday, Chris Mortensen reported that Manning "reassured" the Broncos officials, including John Elway, that he is "physically and mentally prepared to play at a significant level in 2015."

Manning made no mention of retirement in the talks, according to Mortensen. Manning has been working with performance manager and trainer Mackie Shilstone the last two and a half weeks to receive a comprehensive evaluation. Mortensen said Manning's quad injury is fully healed, after plaguing the All-Pro for more than a month last season.

Manning's top two targets, wide receiver DeMaryius Thomas and tight end Julius Thomas are unrestricted free agents this offseason, but the Broncos should have enough cap space to retain key players.

Manning turns 39 in March and suffered a strained quadricep late in the first half of the Broncos' Dec. 14 game at San Diego.

Manning threw 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions last season, while completing 66 percent of his 597 passes for 4727 yards. In 2013, Manning broke multiple NFL passing records with 55 touchdown tosses, 5477 yards, and 10 interceptions, while completing 68.3 percent of his 659 attempts.

Manning is due to make $19 million in 2015, his 18th NFL season.
