SEATTLE, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is considering retirement from the NFL, according to Seattle general manager John Schneider.

Lynch has still not signed his contract with the Seahawks, despite being offered substantially more money for the next season, fueling rumors that he will retire.

Lynch is one of the oldest running backs in the NFL. Additionally, he is known for having an attitude and receiving a large salary -- all factors that made him coming back to the Seahawks a questionable outcome.

Schneider said the team is just waiting for him to decide.

"Whether or not he wants to play next year, I can't answer that," Schneider told ESPN Seattle. "I don't know if he knows at this juncture."

As for fans who think he will sign with another team, they are out of luck. Lynch is either going to be a Seahawk or retire.

Schneider just needs to know if Lynch is up for another season.

"It's hard for these guys, it's a long season," Schneider said. "We've played a lot of football these last two years. Especially the way this guy runs the ball, it's taxing on his body."
