Richard Sherman welcomes baby boy

SEATTLE, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman welcomed his son into the world Thursday with girlfriend Ashley Moss.

Sherman announced the birth of his son Thursday, noting the correlation between his jersey number, 25, and the day of his son's birth 2/5/2015.

My son sure does know how to make an entrance! 2/5/15... Is it a coincidence or is he just that clever?! Either way I'm ecstatic

There were concerns he would have had to miss the Super Bowl if his son arrived early, but Sherman said he was convinced his son would "be a disciplined young man and stay in there" until after the game.

The Seahawks lost in the Superbowl Sunday to the Patriots, but Sherman is now celebrating something much better than a championship game.
