BOSTON, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- The Super Bowl victory parade for the New England Patriots has been delayed until Wednesday after a winter storm dumped a foot of snow on Boston.

There is worse weather predicted for Tuesday, so as to ensure the safety of participants and spectators, the celebration was delayed until Wednesday at 11 a.m.

"Due to today's bad weather and the worsening forecast for tonight, the New England Patriots and the city of Boston have made the mutual decision to postpone the victory parade," the two parties said in a joint statement.

Mayor Marty Walsh said the parade was originally scheduled earlier in the week because some of the players were leaving town soon after.

Monday will see the focus turn to removing snow from the parade route and surrounding areas, said Walsh. Thousands of truckloads of snow need to be removed from the city.
