Ann Mara, mother of New York Giants CEO, dies at 85

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- The mother of the New York Giants' CEO and president, John Mara, has died at the age of 85.

Ann Mara slipped on ice and was hospitalized Jan. 25.

She was well known for telling Terry Bradshaw of Fox Sports "you never pick the Giants," after the Giants won Super Bowl XLVI. Bradshaw had predicted the New England Patriots would win.

"I know. I know. I'm sorry. I'm getting hammered for not picking the Giants," Bradshaw responded.

"I am sad to say that our mother has passed away," said John Mara. "She has been the leader of our family in every way, and we will miss her dearly.

Ann Mara had 11 children, and she is survived by 43 grandchildren.
