Ecuador opens wallet for Super Bowl commercial

QUITO, Ecuador, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Ecuador will become the first foreign country to have a tourism commercial during the Super Bowl, according to Yahoo!.

The South American country has a population of 15.74 million and is spending $3.8 million on the 30 second ad.

Ecuador's Tourism Ministry spent a total of $5 million on media campaigns in 2013, according to Fusion.com

The ad will feature numerous natural attractions in Ecuador and the Beatles' "All You Need Is Love" will play in the background.

The Fusion Network reports that "tourism officials predict the Super Bowl gamble will pay off in the form of 13,000 more Americans tourists visiting Ecuador this year and a $60 million boost in tourism revenue."

Ecuador also paid for eight other commercials that will air during NBC's "Today Show," according to the Los Angeles Times.
