NEW YORK, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- A wakeup went wrong Saturday for New York Knicks forward Derrick Williams. Williams awoke to find he had been robbed of $750,000 worth of jewelry and a Louis Vuitton backpack.
According to New York City police, the two women who allegedly robbed Williams came back to his apartment after Williams was out with friends.
The Knicks have won four straight games. On Friday, the Knicks won 107-97 at Philadelphia, while on Saturday the team edged the Chicago Bulls 107-91 at home.
"I don't want to talk about it," Williams told the New York Post Saturday night. "It's still up in the air."
Williams, 24, was celebrating the win at the Up & Down club. Williams signed a two-year, $8.8 million deal with the Knicks this season.
Police are looking into if Williams' robbery is part of a chain of robberies committed by "young women who prey upon wealthy, bling-flashing men and clubs and hotel bars," according to the New York Post's Larry Celona and Joe Tacopino.
Williams has averaged 9.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 323 career games for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Sacramento Kings and Knicks.
