NEW ORLEANS -- Pelicans All-Star forward Anthony Davis was called for two technical fouls and ejected during the second quarter of New Orleans' game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night in the Smoothie King Center.
Davis, who was leading the Pelicans with 17 points, was called for an offensive foul midway through the period. He was assessed a technical after arguing the call, and teammate DeMarcus Cousins stepped in to pull Davis away from the officials.
On the ensuing possession, Davis was called for a defensive foul as the Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns attempted a shot. Davis immediately started arguing again and was called for another technical and ejected.
Towns made both free throws to give Minnesota a 49-43 lead.
