Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving knocked out of game, enters concussion protocol

BOSTON -- All-Star guard Kyrie Irving was led off the court after getting hit in the mouth by teammate Aron Baynes early in Friday night's game against the Charlotte Hornets.

Baynes fouled Kemba Walker on the Charlotte guard's drive to the basket and then spun around, inadvertently elbowing Irving in the face.

Irving remained down for several minutes and got to his feet holding a towel to his mouth.

The Celtics said Irving would not return and has entered the NBA's concussion protocol.

Irving entered the game averaging 22.0 points and 5.7 rebounds.
